NSERC Summer Student Position (2004)

"Top Quark Physics with the Collider Detector at Fermilab "

Prof. Pekka Sinervo

pekka.sinervo@utoronto.ca

The Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) experiment is currently collecting and analyzing data on the very highest energy matter-antimatter collisions ever observed. The Toronto-CDF group is involved in several measurements related to the production and decay of top quarks in these collisions. The group has an opening for a summer student position to participate in these studies. In particular, the student will be involved in the creation, validation and study of the large-scale Monte Carlo samples that will be created with the Big Mac Beowulf cluster at Toronto, and will work closely with the Toronto researchers involved in these studies. One or two field trips to Fermilab may be necessary over the course of the summer to meet other collaborators working on related topics.
