A meeting to discuss the current status of ATLAS-Canada involvement in the pixel detector project as well as explore options for expanded involvement in the future was held at the Toronto Physics departement on May 5, 1999. The agenda of the meeting is displayed below along with an electronic record of the talks (where available) can be found below.
Attendees were : Bhadra (York), Gilchriese (LBL), Leroy (Montreal), Orr (Toronto), Sinervo (Toronto), Trischuk (Toronto).
The morning session was devoted to an overview of the current status of the ATLAS Pixel project as well as a reminder of the activities that have taken place in Canada related to this project so far. The agenda included:
The afternoon session was preceeded by a visit to the lab facilities available in Toronto for pixel detector testing as well as a discussion of what additional facilities could become available over the next two years to allow for pixel detector assembly. We then reconvened to discuss the various possibilities for further involvement in the pixel detector project.
At the end of the day we discussed possibilities to become involved in the development of the B-layer. This is becoming a separate project in that the B-layer has very different requirements in many respects (pixel size, buffer size (ie. occupancy), radiation tolerance and installation (as the B-layer has to be removable).
We concluded with a plan of action to follow up in the next few months
