This note is being reposted with only minor corrections to the original version posted on November 19, 1995. The original abstract appears below. "The discovery of the top quark by the CDF and D0 Collaborations is described, based on Run 1 data collected through February 1995. A summary of the dilepton and lepton+jets searches is provided. The techniques used by the two collaborations are compared. A description of the preliminary cross section and top quark mass measurements is also included. This note is a contribution to the formal proceedings of the 1995 Lake Louise Winter Institute, and is based on a set of lectures given on top quark searches at this conference."
