The ATLAS detector will soon be studying collisons produced by the Large Hadron Collider at CERN near Geneva, Switzerland. Our group is involved in preparations for searches for dark matter candidates.
The group has an opening for a summer student position to participate in the preparations for these analyses. In particular, the student will be involved in the creation, validation and study of the large-scale simulated event samples that will be produced with the Big Mac Beowulf cluster at Toronto, and will work closely with the Toronto researchers involved in these studies.
This position is open to students at any level, though there will be
a preference for students who have completed at least two years of undergraduate
study. Some programming experience in C, C++ or a related language and
familiarity with the linux operation system would be helpful.
