Stage 1 - the two Cu endplates being positioned into place.
The module was assembled on a heavy steel table located in the High Energy Group's Class 10,000 cleanroom. The Cu endplates were jigged on a stainless steel frame to their nominal positions. Six spacer bars were initially used at various locations between the two endplates to maintain their proper separation. The inner shell piece was attached before stacking of the matrix started. As layers were completed and their tubes were swaged to the endplates, the spacer bars were systematically removed.
